Humbaugh Lift
Company installs high performance Winding Drum
Residential elevators. This type of lift is especially desirable for
coastal installations because all of the main components
are located inside of the TOP of the shaft. Winding Drum
elevators do not require a machine room, are friendly to
the environment, utilize the latest technology, and
require less maintenance than hydraulic elevators.
Please use the following links to

Tips for Design
Overhead: The term
“overhead” refers to the area or dimension in the
hoistway (also known as elevator shaft) that is measured
from the top of the finished floor at the last landing,
to the last obstruction in the top of the hoistway.

Bracket support:
This refers to the part of the elevator shaft that must
be structurally sound to support horizontal movement of
the elevator rails and brackets. Bracket support is
always located behind finished drywall.
Additional Bracket Support Information:
**Note: Bracket support is always
on the same wall as the door hinge. However, It can be
on the left, right or rear wall. Please contact our
sales or layout department for additional information if
this layout is desired.
Pit: This is the
area that is recessed into the lowest floor to give
mechanical clearance for the elevator. A typical pit is
12” deep.
**Note: All of the loads of the elevators are
transported down to the pit. This is a very important
structural item that must be solid concrete able to
safely hold approximately 3,800lbs of downward force.
Controller
Location: Our winding drum elevator is
a machine-room-less design, meaning all components can be located
inside of the elevator shaft. However, it is
best to locate the elevator controller in an adjacent
closet or climate controlled attic. Please keep in mind
that the electrical disconnects and phone lines should be installed at
the desired location the controller. The controller may
be installed in the overhead of the elevator shaft if
there is adequate space and reasonable access is
provided for future service requirements. Please contact
our office at 850 207 8861 for further information if
this location is desired for the controller.
